TROPILINE

A local internet company built for the Costa Tropical

We are not a call centre in Madrid or Manila. We are technicians and engineers based in Almuñécar, serving our own neighbours and the British, French, German, Dutch and Scandinavian community that has made the Costa Tropical their home.

Why Tropiline exists

Tropiline S.L. was founded to solve a very specific problem on the Costa Tropical: the big Spanish telecoms operators were never going to extend cabled fibre to every villa, every cortijo or every urbanisation along this coastline. The economics simply do not justify it for them. So thousands of homes — many of them owned by retirees and remote workers from the UK, France, Germany and the Netherlands — were left with patchy 4G, expensive satellite or no fixed connection at all.

We are a CNMC-registered operator, fully licensed by the Spanish telecoms regulator, with our own infrastructure on the coast. We design, install and operate the network ourselves: nodes on the headlands, radio links across the bay, fibre cabinets in the towns and Wi-Fi 6 routers inside your home. When a customer calls, the technician on the phone is the same person who designed that part of the network. There is no outsourced support tier.

Why "wireless fibre" beats Starlink and satellite for most British residents

Starlink is a brilliant product where nothing else exists, but for most homes on the Costa Tropical it is overkill and overpriced. The hardware costs around €350, the monthly fee is around €50 and Starlink customer service is online-only, in English at best. Latency to UK servers via Starlink is typically 50–80 ms with occasional spikes; latency on the Tropiline network averages 35–45 ms with much lower jitter, because our backhaul is terrestrial fibre, not low-orbit satellite.

For Zoom calls with London, online banking, Sky Go streaming and gaming, fixed wireless wins on cost, latency and reliability. The only scenarios where we recommend Starlink over Tropiline are remote properties with no clear line-of-sight to any of our nodes — and we will tell you honestly if that is your case rather than sell you something that will not work.

A team that speaks your language

Our customer service handles enquiries in English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Danish and Swedish. WhatsApp on +34 601 98 95 44 is the fastest channel, and we typically reply within minutes during business hours. For technical visits, our installers carry English-language documentation and the router admin panel is available in seven languages.

If you have just bought a property in Almuñécar, La Herradura or one of the inland villages and need internet up and running before the moving van arrives, message us. We will pre-configure the router, schedule the installation around your flight and have you online the day you turn the key in the front door.
